Cost Accountant -- Enshrine Placements   Job Details

Our client is the world’s leading steel and mining company and the leader in all major steel markets such as construction, domestic appliances, packaging and automotive. The group has an industrial presence in more than 22 countries spanning four continents, and covers all of the key steel markets, from emerging to mature.


Our client is one of the largest private investors in the country and have an aim of providing more job opportunities and economic stability throughout the country.

They currently have an opportunity a Cost Accountant to compile accounting cost reports and other cost information needed for proper cost accounting to assist in maximizing the company’s profit.

Job Description

  • Compile cost data for preparation of annual budgets including estimates of standard cost increases for the following year.
  • Analyze variance accounts each month and prepare reports.
  • Prepare cost estimates for new products and product changes.
  • Review raw material and packaging standard costs for accuracy on an annual basis. Review purchase price variance accounts monthly.
  • Review monthly cycle count reports for large variances. Monitor inventory levels for negative quantities and errors.
  • Assist in calculation of cost savings for budget and measurement of actual savings.
  • Maintain records of approved capital projects including copies of all invoices for fixed assets. Enter new capital projects in the computer system. Record all approved asset disposals. Reconcile fixed asset accounts to fixed asset system subsidiary records each month.
  • Review depreciation calculations and prepare depreciation estimates by G/L account for the annual budget.
  • Review the monthly cost detail on large programs to ensure the integrity of job costs and to identify any unusual trends or exceptions.
  • Implement cost collection and reporting strategies using accounting software tools to provide meaningful and timely reporting on large projects.
  • Participate in monthly program reviews in which all major elements of large program financial and operational performance are reviewed.
  • Prepare annual property tax returns for all locations. Keep up to date with property tax forms, exemptions and tax changes.
  • Review assessments and coordinate payment of property taxes. Reconcile property tax accrual
  • Prepare annual budget for property taxes for all locations.


Bachelor of Commerce degree or professional accounting qualification (CA, CMA)


Minimum of 5 years’ post graduate accounting experience preferably in the mining industry and in a management accounting role.

Sound knowledge of mining safety regulations and best practice
