Consultant - Advocacy and Communications Specialist -- The Khana Group   Job Details

The Khana Group (TKG) is a social impact consulting firm that works in Sub-Saharan Africa to provide research and social impact advisory services. Our work includes but is not limited to girls, women, youth empowerment, trade, health and agriculture, evaluating various projects including safe drinking water projects, building capacity for farmers and conducting research to support policy decisions. With offices in Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia and the United States, TKG works with non-profit and government organizations in West Africa, as well as American and European donor organizations.


TKG is seeking Consultant-Advocacy and Communication Specialist with specialization in the following areas: Advocacy Programming, Strategic Planning, (Mass) Communication,

Business Analysis, and Capacity Development.


 Organize and undertake training with stakeholders, including primary stakeholders (i.e. in communication and advocacy areas, including participatory aspects)

 Develop partnerships with other coalitions or institutions with expertise in legislative advocacy, consider targeted advocacy campaigns around specific corporat policies

 Train staff in Liberian legislative and electoral processes

 Develop a system to monitor and analyze legislation and its potential impacts on target


 Conduct program sessions to identify advocacy issues and develop one-year advocacy plan

 Arrange planning sessions to develop comprehensive communication strategy with

objectives, targets, and timelines.

 Develop advocacy strategy to support long term strategic planning

 Co-lead the design and implementation of initial planning workshop

 Participate in management / team / project meetings, as required

 Support additional activities as requested


 Demonstrated technical competency and subject matter expertise in advocacy and communication programming

 Professional experience in advocacy, strategic planning, communication and other capacity building areas

 Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), problemsolving, organizational and teamwork skills

 Experience in leading strategic and communication planning processes and good group facilitation skills


Masters in one of the following or related fields: Public Administration Management, Business Management, International Relations, Communication, Political Science or related.

 Minimum of 5 years of experience working in advocacy on legislative issues, including analysis, communications research and strategic planning

 Advocacy in public and/or private sector projects

 Experience working with international donor and multilateral organizations as well as evidence of international exposure/travelis highly desirable

 Proven experience working in a senior capacity and leading teams
